West Virginia Bar Association Announces Award of Merit to be Presented to Judge Robert B. King

The West Virginia Bar Association has announced that the Honorable Robert B. King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit will be presented with the Award of Merit by the Association on Friday, August 24, 2018, at its 132nd Annual Meeting.  The Award of Merit is the highest honor given by the WVBA for significant contributions to the Association and the legal community.  Formed in 1886, the WVBA is one of the oldest voluntary bar associations in the United States and is the oldest in the state. The Annual Meeting will be held August 23-25, 2018, and attendees are invited to join the Association in recognizing Judge King for this well-deserved award.  Registration information can be found at

Judge King was nominated by President William J. Clinton to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals on June 24, 1998, to a seat vacated by the Honorable Kenneth K. Hall.  Judge King received his commission on October 9, 1998.  Prior to joining the court, he was in private practice in Lewisburg and Charleston, West Virginia, and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia.  In October of this year, Judge King will have served on the Fourth Circuit for 20 years.
