Oral Argument Calendar

The Fourth Circuit hears oral argument at regularly scheduled sessions in Richmond, Virginia, and at special sessions scheduled throughout the circuit. Oral argument sessions and calendars are listed below.

Court generally convenes at 9:30 a.m., except on the last day of the session, when it convenes at 8:30 a.m. En banc arguments begin at 9:00 a.m.  Courtroom assignments, starting times, and case order are available below once the calendar has issued. Counsel must register for argument at least 30 minutes before court starts and is notified in advance if there is a change in the starting time. For attorney registration times, click here.

The calendar includes a brief description of the case and links to the briefs and appendices on PACER. The description is prepared by the clerk's office and does not reflect the court's views or limit the issues counsel may argue.

The identity of the panel assigned to hear argument pursuant to IOP 34.1 is not disclosed until the morning of argument . The identity of the panel and a link to the audio file of the oral argument are posted at Listen to Oral Arguments the following business day.
