Mission Statement
The mission of the Fourth Circuit Library system is to meet the research and information needs of all federal judicial and court staff within the five states of the Fourth Circuit. The library staff located throughout the Circuit perform and assist with research, provide training with online resources and services, and evaluate, select, organize and provide access to resources and services in print, online, and multimedia formats.
The Fourth Circuit Libraries were established to fulfill the research needs of the federal courts located within the five states of the circuit: Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The Fourth Circuit Libraries support over 180 circuit, district, magistrate, and bankruptcy judges; and nearly 2000 personnel within the courts. In addition to serving the federal courts, we provide limited services to federal agencies, state and local courts, and members of the bar.
Certain locations are open to the public. Please call any individual library for more information.
